More than just remodeling

Renovation

Renovation makes your home new again. Maybe your bathrooms are out of date, or your kitchen cabinets and countertops need a modern facelift. We update the rooms you use most so they look and work the way you want. See kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling and flooring.

Restoration

Restoration returns your home to the way it was. Whether your home was damaged by a storm, a leak, normal wear and tear or something else, we have the knowledge and experience to restore it. See wind and hail damage restoration, water, fire and mold damage restoration and our insurance restoration process.

Remodeling

Remodeling changes the character of your home, like turning a garage into an extra bedroom, adding an attached mother-in-law suite, building a four-season porch or garage addition, or finishing a basement. See home additions and basement finishing.

Everything we do, in one place

Because we're a general contractor, one team can handle the whole project:

Benefits of renovating, restoring and remodeling

  • Value: updating, upgrading and restoring your home can increase its value and curb appeal.
  • Efficiency: modern building materials, windows and insulation are far more efficient and can lower energy costs.
  • Lower maintenance: new, high-quality materials can reduce how much and how often you spend on upkeep.
  • Comfort and function: a layout that fits how your family lives today, and can adapt as your needs change.

How a project works with us

  1. Conversation. We visit your home and listen to your goals, needs and budget.
  2. Custom plan. We put together a plan for your project and help with selections.
  3. Written estimate. A detailed scope, so you know what's included.
  4. Permits. We pull the permits and schedule the inspections your city requires.
  5. Construction. One team coordinates every trade, keeps the site clean and keeps you updated.
  6. Final walkthrough. We go over every detail together.

Not sure where to start?

Many homeowners come to us with a list: a dated bathroom, a drafty window, a roof that's getting old, and a basement they'd like to use. We'll help you sort out what's urgent, what can wait, and what makes sense to do together. Sometimes combining projects saves money, like replacing windows when you reside, or finishing the basement bathroom while the plumber is already there. Other times it's better to fix the roof first and remodel next year. We'll give you honest advice and a plan that fits your budget and timeline.

What customers say

“Mike was on time- very clean- did exactly as promised!!! (The dumpster on my driveway never left a scratch or indent!). Bischel ensures everything was done top notch!!!”Jay P.

Planning around Minnesota seasons

Interior projects like kitchens, bathrooms and basements can be done year-round, and winter is often the easiest time to get on the schedule. Exterior work like additions, roofing and decks is easiest from spring through fall. Many homeowners plan in winter and build in spring. We'll help you sequence projects so the work flows and you're not paying to redo anything later.

Frequently asked questions

Can you handle my whole project, or just part of it?

We can handle the whole project. As a general contractor, we coordinate every trade, from demolition and framing to plumbing and electrical by licensed trades, finishes, and exterior work.

Do you do both remodeling and storm repairs?

Yes. We do renovation and remodeling, and we also restore homes after storms, leaks and other damage, inside and out.

Do I need a permit for my remodel?

Most remodels involving structural, plumbing, electrical or mechanical work need a permit in Minnesota. Cabinet replacement, painting and flooring usually don't. We'll tell you what your city requires and handle the permits.
