We build, remodel and restore homes and commercial buildings for customers within 60 miles of Lakeville and Farmington.
Our approach is simple: listen carefully, put together a custom plan for every customer, and stand behind our craftsmanship.
How it all started
Just after college, Mike Bischel helped his dad build the family home in Farmington, Minnesota, and soon after, he built his first home. It all started there.
While working as an engineer at Koch Refinery (now Flint Hills Resources), Mike built a few homes and finished basements on the side. Eventually he decided it was time to build full-time, and Bischel Building became what it is today. That engineering background still shapes how we work: careful planning, attention to detail, and solving problems before they show up on the job site.
Always learning
Continuing education is a major focus at Bischel Building. We're always looking for better ideas and ways to improve proven methods. Attending events like the International Builders Show lets us see new products and techniques firsthand and ask experts across the industry questions, so we can bring the best of what we learn to our customers' homes.

What you can expect from us
- A custom plan. We put together a plan for each customer instead of selling a one-size-fits-all package.
- One team, one point of contact. As a general contractor, we coordinate every trade on your project.
- Respect for your home. We show up when we say we will, protect your property and clean up.
- Honest advice. If a repair makes more sense than a replacement, we'll tell you.
- A local company. Our office is in downtown Farmington, and we'll be here long after the job is done.
Homes and buildings we work on
Our work ranges from single rooms to entire buildings. We've worked on historic roofs, done roofing for HOAs and property management firms, and built and remodeled homes throughout the south metro. Because we started out building homes and finishing basements, we understand how a house goes together from the footings up, and that helps on every repair and remodel. Whether it's a gutter repair or a new home, every job gets the same attention.
Accredited and accountable
Bischel Building, Inc. has been a BBB Accredited Business since 2018 and is a licensed Minnesota contractor (License BC634092). Accreditation means we've committed to the BBB Standards for Trust, including honest advertising and responding to customer concerns.
